Frequently Asked Questions
Below you’ll find answers to questions we get asked most about.
FAQ – LASH LIFTS
What do I need to do before the treatment?
Please come in makeup free and if you wear contact lenses they must be removed during the treatment.
Will my lashes look dramatically thicker like lash extensions?
Lash extensions and lash lifts are completely different. I will simply be curling your natural lashes, not adding any fibres to them. Your natural lashes however, will appear fuller because they are so uplifted.
Will this treatment damage my lashes?
No. The lifting solution is only applied to the new growth area of the lashes, down towards the base and up a bit, never to the ends of the lashes.
Who is this procedure NOT recommended for?
If you’ve had eye surgery, like LASIK eye surgery, then there is a waiting period of 6 months post procedure.
Blepharoplasty surgery requires a 12 month period post procedure.
Chemotherapy will require 12 months from the last treatment and with physician’s approval.
Chronic dry eye, conjunctivitis, damaged lashes or lashes with gaps (may make the gaps more noticeable), active eye infections of ANY kind, Trichotillomania (habitual pulling out of eyelashes) will not be suitable for the lash lift treatment.
FAQ – GET GLOWING MICRO PEEL
What is the downtime?
For approximately one week following the procedure, the skin will undergo a renewal process, lightly shedding its dead outer layer. You may or may not experience peeling. If peeling occurs, it usually begins four to five days following the treatment and lasts for approximately 2 days.
How long does the treatment take?
The peel stays on for 30 minutes. You will be in treatment for 45 minutes. For approximately one week following the procedure, the skin will undergo light shedding. The dead outer layer will peel off, leaving the skin refreshed and soft.
How does the Get Glowing Peel work?
The active ingredients the Get Glowing Peel are Resorcinol, Kojik Acid and Salicylic Acid.
Resorcinol works by breaking down rough, scaly or hardened skin and is used to treat acne, eczema, psoriasis, seborrhoea, photo aging, solar keratosis, epidermal atrophy and improves skin tone.
Kojik Acid works on melanocytes interfering with the production of melanin. It has excellent skin-lightening abilities and is classified as an antioxidant.
Salicylic Acid is used to treat skin conditions such as psoriasis, acne, oily skin, blackheads and whiteheads. It dissolves the keratin plugs (cleaning out the pores) acting as an exfoliant. It has anti-inflammatory properties.
FAQ – SKIN RENEWAL PEEL
What is the Skin Renewal Peel?
The Skin Renewal Peel is a multifunctional peel and therefore addresses all skin problems and is suitable for all skins of colour. It is classified as a superficial peel in that it does not penetrate into the living layers thus making it safe and problem free.
For Melasma, Grade 2 Acne and Glycation, two programs are recommended to achieve the best result and an annual maintenance to maintain a fresh, problem and pigment free complexion.
How does the Skin Renewal Peel work?
Resorcinol is a natural anaesthetic which makes the peel much more tolerable than TCA and other combined acid chemical peels.
Resorcinol is also a derivative of hydroquinone which makes it effective on pigment. It works by breaking down rough, scaly or hardened skin and is used to treat acne, eczema, psoriasis, seborrhoea, photo aging, solar keratosis, epidermal atrophy as well as vastly improving skin tone, facial redness and unevenness.
Salicylic Acid is used to treat skin conditions such as psoriasis, acne, oily skin, blackheads and whiteheads. It is the only acid that is attracted to oil making it a perfect solution to blackheads because it directly dissolves the keratin plugs from your pores. Salicylic acid improves collagen productions and thickness of the skin’s living cell layers. It has anti-inflammatory properties.
This peel has been thoroughly tried, tested and used successfully for over 40 years.
What is the consultation process?
Schedule your initial consult with Jennifer. During the initial consult, you will be given all the paperwork, pay for your treatments and schedule your appointments.
- (First Appointment) Day 1: Application – 2.5 hours
- (Second Appointment) Day 2: Application – 2.5 hours
- (Third Appointment) Day 7-10: PEEL OFF Day – 1 hour
- (Fourth Appointment) Day 14: Post Peel off Facial – 30 mins
How will I look during the peeling process?
Day 1: Immediately after the first application, the skin is red but not unsightly.
Day 2: Second peel is applied.
Day 3: The skin takes on a brownish tinge. It looks like a skier who has forgotten to protect themselves from the sun and ended up with a severe sunburn. The difference, of course, is that while the sunburn destroys the skin, the peeling restores it.
Day 4: The skin’s brownish colour darkens to its maximum intensity on the fourth day and the skin may begin to peel.
Day 5: The skin begins to peel. Allow this to happen naturally and do not interfere with the peeling process.
Day 6: The skin begins to peel. Allow this to happen naturally and do not interfere with the peeling process.
Day 7-10: The remaining skin is removed by therapist in a sterile environment. The peeling is safe and controlled, the skin is never raw. Nothing can go wrong because there is no destruction of the living cells. After cosmetic exfoliation, there is a brand new, glowing, smooth, fine textured skin complexion underneath resembling youthful skin.
Day 14: We perform a mini post peel off nourishing facial.

FAQ – INTENSE PULSE LIGHT
Who is a candidate for treatment?
Treatments are customized according to your skin type, hair colour and treatment area. Treatments are effective on all skin types and hair colours. Any body part including underarms, legs, back, face, neck, bikini etc can be treated. Special protection is required when working closely around the eyes.
Will it hurt?
For a split second – yes. The sensation is often referred to a ‘rubber band flick’. Preparation for the IPL treatment is minimal, as body hair does not have to be grown out prior to the treatment. The hand-piece utilized for the treatment covers larger body areas than alternative methods. Thus minimizing the time of the treatment, and the active cooling integrated within the hand-piece provides for additional comfort.
In some cases, dependent on the procedure, skin type, and the treatment area, clients experience some mild redness and tenderness in the area, which does not interfere with normal activities and usually subsides within a day.
How many treatments will I require?
Hair grows in three cycles called Anagen, Catagen, and Telogen. IPL and laser technology most effectively interacts with hair in the Anagen (or active growth) phase when the hair is highest in pigment. Hence multiple treatments are required to accomplish permanent hair reduction. On average approximately 20% reduction will be noticed in the initial treatment and as much as 95% reduction can be realized in four to six treatments. Remember after the treatments the reduction will be permanent.
What happens immediately after a treatment?
IPL works in a minimally invasive manner to thermally destroy the hair. This is what makes the procedure so fast and comfortable. Two or three days after the treatment, stubble may reappear. This is NOT new hair growth, but simply the body shedding the thermally damaged hair; including the bulb.
When this hair is completely shed, it’s time for your next treatment (typically four to six weeks). As IPL penetrates through the skin right to the bulb of the hair, it’s still OK to shave between treatments if you like, but DON’T tweeze or wax, as that will remove the target.
Are there any factors that might affect treatment?
Certain factors may make your body more sensitive to light, which don’t exclude clients from treatments but must be disclosed during the consultation. Certain medications such as muscle relaxants, anti-depressants, anti-cancer drugs, acne medications and topical creams containing Retin-A, will have an effect on treatment parameters. Test patches prior to treatment ensure safe and effective results for any client situation.
Are there any side effects of treatment or special post treatment instructions?
For best results, active tanning and use of artificial tanning products should be discontinued prior to and during treatments. After treatment, use Sunblock (SPF25+) on the treatment area. You can shave during treatments, but do not wax or tweeze the hair, as this will remove the target (the bulb).
Subsequent to treatments you may experience some redness and/or warmth at the treatment site, which is normal and can be cooled with cold wet compresses if desired. It is recommended to avoid vigorous exercise, perfumed deodorants, heavily chlorinated pools and/or hot whirlpool baths, saunas, etc. for 12-24 hours subsequent to treatments.
Can I remove hair between treatments?
This is an excellent question and the answer is the same as it is for electrolysis. You definitely cannot tweeze or wax. If you tweeze or wax between treatments, you physically remove the target hence reduce the Intense Pulsed Light’s ability to destroy it (you can’t destroy what isn’t there).
You can however shave between treatments as the objective is to interact with the matrix or bulb and shaft of the hair, which is untouched by shaving. Ideally large body areas should be shaved prior to coming to the clinic for an IPL treatment to cut down on the time of treatment, as surface hair must be removed prior to the treatment.
How long should I stay out of the sun prior to and after IPL treatments?
It is recommended for you to be out of the sun 3 weeks prior to treatment or for the appropriate timeframe for their skin to return to their natural colour. It is also recommended that you do not tan or use tanning products in the timeframe between a prescribed series of pulsed light treatments as overactive melanin could cause a pigmentation effect.
FAQ – COSMETIC TATTOO
Some clients may not be a suitable candidate for cosmetic tattooing. Before booking in for an appointment with us please ensure that you have read through the list.
A week before the cosmetic tattoo we also advise to stop using any products with Retin A, AHA, Fish Oils or actives. If you are on Roaccutane or any other medication that may affect the skin please contact us to discuss.
Skin type is also another factor that may affect the result. If you have oily skin, your results could look softer and more powdered. Red heads, blondes and fair skin types may experience more fading than darker skin types.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are having a correction or a cover-up tattoo procedure and you have had microblading previously, it can take 1-3 treatments to achieve the desired result. This is because the scar tissue that has formed in the brow area may need additional procedures and fees will apply.
Cosmetic tattooing is not suitable for the following:
- Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers
- Chemotherapy patients
- Keratosis
- Diabetics (unless cleared by a GP)
- Seborrhoea Dermatitis
- Extremely Sensitive Skin
- Sunburnt Skin
- Skin that has recently had any sort of laser / cosmetic treatments in the area
Can I wear makeup to my appointment?
Yes, you can wear makeup to the appointment – we will wipe the area with eye makeup remover and an antiseptic wipe.
How will I look after the procedure?
After your brows are tattooed there may be a little redness and/or swelling to the area, this will only last a couple of hours.
What is the process and how long does it take to get done?
On the day of the procedure, I begin drawing the shape of your brows to build a frame. We work together for shaping, styling and color selection. You will have the opportunity to see shape and colour before doing any actual shading work. Once all is approved, we proceed with tattooing of the brows.
The appointment usually takes approximately three hours.
Can I be pregnant or breast feeding for cosmetic tattooing?
Cosmetic tattooing procedures are not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
How does this affect my Botox treatments?
We recommend you book your Botox appointment at least 14 days before your initial brow tattooing appointment. This aids with symmetry and skins firmness. If you are looking for a much higher arch or “lift” with your brow tattoo design, please understand that this is only achieved through a combination of Botox and cosmetic tattooing. If we tattoo the brow line too high, it will not blend through your natural hairs and look artificial. Botox will achieve more height by “lifting” the muscles.
What is the post care for brow tattooing?
For best-healed results you should avoid working out, sweating, swimming and saunas for approximately 1 week. Avoid makeup around the brows for approximately two weeks. During the healing stage your brows will go a little dry and begin to flake, it is important not to pick at the flaking/dry skin. The skin flaking needs to shed naturally. After the procedure, you will be given an aftercare instruction sheet and aftercare ointment to be applied to your new brows during the healing stage.
The initial healing stage takes approximately 7-10 days.
Can I bring friends or children to my cosmetic tattoo appointment?
Unfortunately, our clinic isn’t child friendly and due to Occupational Health & Safety, only the tattooist and client can be in the room during the procedure.
